Tips To Choose Your Bath Linen
Everybody wants the bathroom in their home to be as comfortable and beautiful as possible. Bath linen and textiles are an important aspect of any bathroom. From style statement to pure indulgence, the right bath towels can be more than just an everyday essential. Soft, absorbent towels and other bath linens give a luxurious feel to even a small bathroom. When you are going to purchase bath linens, you need to consider certain factors, such as fabric, style, grams per square meter and care. Learning how to choose these items is something that every homeowner should know.
Material
Material is the most important consideration when purchasing bath linens. Most towels are made of cotton, but the look and feel of towels largely depends upon the type of cotton used. The most popular types are Egyptian and Turkish terrycloth as they have good absorbent qualities and wearing properties. The ultra-soft super-fluffy towels found in high end spas and hotels are made up Egyptian cotton, or Pima cotton, which gives the same luxurious touch and feel. For daily use, you can consider fabrics like Modal (made of cellulose from beech trees), organic fiber or microfiber. Microfiber is also becoming quite popular due to light weight and high absorbent properties.
GSM (gram per square meter)
The weight of the towel is measured in terms of GSM, which refers to the weight of the fabric woven into a square meter of toweling. Low GSM towels are thin and light, whereas high GSM (400 to 600) are thick and heavy. For hand towels, 400 GSM will be ok; however if you are purchasing bath towel, make sure it has GSM above 500. This will keep the towel soft and absorbent. A good quality bath towel will be much heavy than it looks and will have good absorbent qualities.
Style and color
There are no particular guidelines when it comes to choosing the right colors and style for your bath room. Bath linens are available in a wide variety of soft and cold colors and plain or contemporary prints. Fine crafted linens have well executed linen designs, uniform color scheme with finished seams. Choose the style and color that complement the décor of your bathroom. White linens usually give a fresh and crisp impression; whereas colored linens are a great way to accent a room.
Care-
When properly taken care of, bath linens will look fresh and last longer. Towels should ideally be washed in cold water before the first use to soften the fibers. Dark and brightly colored towels should be washed separately. Do not use fabric conditioner on bath towels, bath mats or bath robes as it will coat the fibers and make them less absorbent.
Bath mats-
Just like bath towels, bath mats are important feature of your bathroom. They are designed to give you a soft and absorbent place to dry off after your shower. Choose bath mat that coordinates well with your bathroom décor.
Bath linens offer an inexpensive way to complement or transform your old bathroom look.
